The concert had a grand beginning with the lifting Kalyani varna, Vanajakshi sung in three speeds and different nadais. This was followed by Naadaloludai, the composition in Kalyana Vasanta rAga where Saint Thyagaraja shares the secret of achievement of eternal bliss through music. This song was embellished with quick and lilting swara prastaras.
Amrutha then sang Shantamu Leka, yet another Thyagaraja gem in SAma rAga that is not heard of late in concerts. A quick Pantuvarali alapana was followed by Maharaja Swati Tirunal's Saarasaksha with brisk swara prasataras.
Shankarabharanam rAga was chosen for detailed delineation. Amrutha had her unique style stamped during the alapana, rendition of Sarojadala Neetri, nereval at Saama gaana and easy paced swara prastara that brought out the wonderful contours of the rAga. The tani avartanam lent additional colour to the main item of the concert. Beautifully rendered Devara NAmas followed and the concert was rounded off well with and a brilliant thillana of Dr M Balamuralikrishna in Kadana kutuhala rAga.
Amrutha was ably accompanied on the violin by Vidwan Anand Viswanathan and on the mridangam by Vidwan Tumkur Ravishankar. A notable feature of the concert was the explanation of the meaning of a few songs prior to their rendition by Amrutha.
